Setting Bold Intentions
What if I told you that this is the year you change the world?
You might laugh, shake your head, or roll your eyes at the thought. Maybe you’d label it unrealistic or rattle off reasons why changing the world is an impossible feat. But what if you allowed yourself, just for a moment, to let go of pragmatism and reach for that big, audacious dream? Perhaps it’s innovating a solution for climate change or fighting hunger. Maybe it’s eliminating homelessness in your community or creating free education and childcare. Or maybe the dream is closer to home—changing your world. Leaving a job that drains you. Paying off debt. Starting a family.
The truth is, changing the world—whether your own or the global community—begins with intention. It starts with small, purposeful steps that build the foundation to chase bigger dreams. Accomplishing smaller goals shifts your mindset, sharpening your ability to tackle larger, more complex challenges.
So, let’s step into the mindset of intention setting. There’s no better time than now, at the fresh start of a year—a blank slate brimming with possibility. Yes, it can feel overwhelming, as though every goal must be perfectly crafted and flawlessly executed. But what if, instead of striving for perfection, we approached our intentions with curiosity?
Start by writing them down. Whether it’s in a journal, a notebook, or on a vision board, call your dreams into existence. Don’t be shy. Big or small, they matter. Then, share them. With a friend, a partner, or even on social media—accountability invites momentum.
This year, I challenge you to set a BHAG—a “big, hairy, audacious goal.” Something that stretches your imagination and sparks your creativity. It should excite and maybe even scare you a little, but it will push you beyond what you thought was possible.
As you work toward these goals, embrace the “Let Them” theory, popularized by Mel Robbins. Not everyone will understand your aspirations, and that’s okay. Let them misunderstand. Let them judge. Your energy is precious—protect it, nurture it, and channel it into what truly lights you up.
Next, try a trial period. This is a gentle way to ease into a new habit or mindset. Test it out for a month, then reassess. Does it energize and inspire you? If not, adjust. Small tweaks can make a world of difference.
Finally, choose theme words to guide your year—words like “ease,” “curiosity,” or “resilience.” Let them serve as anchors to ground you when doubt inevitably arises. When we set intentions with openness rather than rigidity, we create space for growth, reflection, and self-compassion. Step by step, we become who we’re meant to be—and maybe, just maybe, we start to change our world.
This year, may you dream audaciously, act intentionally, and find joy in every part of the process.
